This is an excellent opportunity to gain a Modern Apprenticeship in a logistics operation. This is a permanent role for which you will receive on the job training, support and mentoring in order to achieve the skills and knowledge to become an effective Logistics Operative. You will also receive training from our external training provider.

We are seeking a highly organised individual, with excellent communication skills to be responsible for providing accurate and efficient logistics support to the depot. Duties will include:

  • Providing administrative support for the safe, legal and effective planning and running of a fleet of vehicles and drivers.

  • Ensuring that relevant Transport systems are updated accurately and in real time as and when changes occur throughout the shift.

  • Entering accurate real time delivery updates onto customers own internal systems e.g. Late arrivals, delivery time changes etc.
  • Competent and knowledgeable use of WH Malcolm internal traffic systems (Roadrunner).
  • General ad-hoc duties to support the smooth running of the operation.

Plant Mechanic / Fitter

Location–South Street.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Mechanic/ Fitter, at our South Street depot.

Responsibilities for the role include:

  • The routine maintenance and repairs on all vehicles both on site, at customer premises and also within the workshop.
  • Maintenance and running repairs to a fleet of 150+ plant items.
  • Services, maintenance and running repairs of mixed fleet of excavation, dozers, dump trucks and tar equipment.

In order to be successful in your application, candidates must be able to demonstrate a high standard of workmanship, a professional attitude and good communication skills.

Setting Out Engineer

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Setting Out Engineer for the Company. 

This is a permanent, full time position, reporting to Stuart Campbell, Operations Manager. 

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Site management;
  • Ensuring accurate setting out and levelling of the works in accordance with the drawings/ specifications;
  • Overseeing of quality control and health and safety matters on site;
  • Ensure effective records are maintained and stored accordingly for project delivery;
  • Liaise with Clients and design teams ensuring specification compliance.

The successful candidate must have a Civil Engineering degree, proven site experience as a Setting Out Engineer and hold a valid CSCS card. SMSTS qualification desirable, but not essential.

At our logistics depot in Crick, Daventry we are looking for a competent and driven individual to join our Traffic Team in order to support the planning of inbound and outbound deliveries. This position has opportunities for development and will be ideal for an individual who wishes to progress within a Logistics environment. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct tasks in a timely and efficient manner and possess a willingness to learn skills within a new environment. A good telephone manner, clear communication skills, effective team working skills and a keen eye for detail are essential attributes required for this role. Full training will be given to ensure that the candidate has the skills to deliver an excellent standard of support to the Traffic Team. 

Duties to include;

  • Deliver a consistently high level of support to the Traffic Team, including answering telephones and providing a level of administrative tasks.

Location - Haydock

Hours – Monday to Friday with every third Saturday morning

Experience -  Stock Control experience essential. Ideally the candidate should have a Counterbalance FLT licence.

Duties will include:

Working closely with the Warehouse Manager in order to ensure that all aspects of warehouse stock control and administration functions are maintained to Company/Customer standards, whilst also ensuring that all Company and Customer physical requirements are met within the Warehousing operation, these to include;

  • Assist with daily warehouse checks in order to identify any issues relating to stock levels, stacking, housekeeping etc.
  • Ensure that incoming product is managed and stored appropriately in line with customer SOP requirements.
  • Fork lift driving during peak periods plus holiday/sickness cover.
  • Ensure that all products are picked at the correct customer specified level.
  • Maintain the correct physical batch control within the warehouse.
  • Complete, maintain and distribute stock reports on a daily basis to relevant parties.
  • Data entry/booking out on warehouse systems.
  • Administration and overseeing of stock rotation and Warehouse movements.
  • Customer liaison regarding returns and stock queries.

Successful candidates must have the following:

  •          HGV C (Class 2) license
  •          Digital Tachograph card & Full Driver’s CPC Qualification
  •          Practical knowledge of moving plant, excavators, rollers, wheeled equipment etc.
  •          A good understanding of the tachograph rules.

 

Preferred but not essential:

  •          ADR Licence
  •          Loader/Securer (CPCS card) HIAB/ Lorry Loader Operators certificate – preferably CPCS/CITB but ALLMI is
             accepted.

 

You should be able to work safely on your own initiative and be used to working on construction and industrial sites.  You should have excellent driving skills and be able to safely load and secure various items of equipment.  You will be expected to accommodate varied working hours including overtime to suit the business needs.  Drivers with a HIAB qualification & working experience would be advantageous but additional training would be given.

Railport Controller

Location  Daventry Railport

Salary  Attractive shift rate plus overtime opportunities.

Experience  Knowledge of Railway Operations preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

At our Railport at Daventry we are looking for a Railport Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be dedicated to meeting both the rigorous demands of our various customers, train deadlines and the safety and procedural essentials integral to such an operation. It is essential that you demonstrate a practical appreciation of railway operations including loading standards and railway group standards. 

A positive and professional attitude and the ability to demonstrate initiative is essential as are excellent communication skills. 

Certificates of competence in such as carriage and wagon examination and shunting and train preparation will be a distinct advantage. 

Responsibilities include; 

  •          The day to day co-ordination of Railport activities, Railport Operatives, Staff resources and Contractors.
  •          Organising the loading and unloading of trains, with the emphasis on ensuring that all necessary checks are carried out.
  •          Monitoring the inspection, maintenance and repair of MHE to ensure legislative compliance.
  •          Liaising with Train Operating Companies and Freight Aggregators to agree provision of rail wagons and service requirements.
  •         Working closely with site management to assist in improving H&S and to develop and maintain safe systems of work.

  •          Intermodal Reachstacker Licence.
  •          08 Shunt Locomotive Licence.
